War Letters

I guess they took us by surprise

The ground was shaking

They were ten to match our five

Ears aching

There’s only little Man can do

But I am still alive and writing this

To you

Two lonely bugles’ muffled sound

Atonement’s choir

When the day finely comes around

A hilltop higher

There’s only little Man can do

But I am still alive and writing this

To you

It all rounds up in Circus clowns And Lies

When it’s one foot down and the other standing by

Love letters written in the night watch’s light

To let you know

That I miss you

It really never is the right time

To meet the maker

And if it wasn’t for the thorn in my side

I’d meet him later

There’s only little Man can do

But I’m still alive and writing this

To you

It all rounds up…

It’s not to trouble anyone

I write this letter

But I haven’t heard a word for a moth

Of worse nor better

This is why I’m pleading you

I know there’s only little Man can do

But please send word of whatever’s true

Please do
